Tieguanyin Jinguanyin

$8.00

Tie means iron and Guanyin, also spelled Kuanyin, Kwan Yin, or Quan Yin, is the most beloved goddess in the Buddhist tradition. Her name means the one who hears prayers. She is the goddess of mercy, who strives to alleviate suffering on earth. She is primarily known as a goddess of compassion, fertility, wisdom, protection and salvation.

Tieguanyin is the most famous oolong tea in China. This cultivar was discovered when she visited a poor farmer, who faithfully cleaned an old temple that held an iron statue of Guanyin, in a dream. She guided the farmer to look in a cave behind the temple for a treasure. He found a single tea plant that he carefully cared for and cultivated. As it grew, he began sharing it with the community. The whole community prospered as the popularity of the tea spread; and a beautiful new temple was built to honor Guanyin.

Two ounces of a very special Tieguanyin from the Jinguanyin or Golden Guanyin varietal. It has a flavorful bouquet of orchid with a hint of subtle apricot notes.

One ounce of a delightful Tieguanyin Oolong from China!
